POKOTABI / PLACES WORTH A DETOUR
& torch Bakery
Discover the pleasures of bakery favourites described in customer reviews, from buttery shio pan and freshly baked mentaiko French bread to chewy shokupan. This bakery is for takeaway only.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Some customers say they enjoy how the buttery flavour of shio pan spreads with the first bite; others praise the flavour of the bread itself. Alongside its classic shio pan, & torch Bakery’s house-made curry bread is also mentioned as a popular choice. Start with a shio pan, then browse for a bread that would suit a meal.
One customer describes the mentaiko French bread as piping hot and juicy when they found it freshly baked. When it wasn’t on display, they asked at the baking area and say it was ready a short time later; a half-size portion was also available. If the timing works out, it’s a tempting option to enjoy soon after taking it away.
For something sweet, there are cream buns and anpan, a bun filled with sweet red bean paste. One customer remembers the cream bun for its generous amount of cream and fluffy dough, while the anpan is noted for its thin crust and whole red beans. The shokupan, called “Akari”, is described as chewy and not too sweet. Customers say it is good toasted or as it is, making it a possible choice for breakfast. The bakery is takeaway only; one customer also reports buying shokupan and other items from a vending machine outside.
